Erin leading a chestnut horse through the pasture

Natural horsemanship

Private ground work lessons that build confidence, clear communication and a real bond between you and your horse.

Everything starts on the ground

Natural horsemanship is all ground work. Horses learn good ground manners, and people learn to communicate clearly and get the response they're asking for.

  1. 1

    Connection

Learn to read your horse's body language and build a real bond that starts on the ground.

  2. 2

    Communication

Give clear, consistent cues so your horse understands what you're asking and gives you the response you want.

  3. 3

    Confidence

Feel calm and capable around horses, from leading and grooming to handling the tricky moments.

  4. 4

    Ground manners

Help your horse learn to respect your space and stay soft, safe and easy to handle.

Who it's for

Kids and adults, from your very first day around horses to owners working through a challenge.

New riders

Start here before your first riding lesson. You'll get comfortable around horses and learn to communicate with them clearly, so you climb into the saddle with fewer nerves.

Experienced riders

Learn to communicate with your horse out of the saddle, too. Better ground work makes for a softer, more connected ride.

Horse owners

Bought a horse with poor ground manners, or one that's unsafe to handle or ride in certain situations? This is where we start, and it matters more than anything.

When something changes

If your usually calm, easy horse is suddenly acting difficult, we help pinpoint whether the problem is mental rather than physical and work through it, so you're both happy and successful together again.

Take a peek at a lesson

Figure eights teach a horse to move their shoulders and hindquarters away from you when asked, change direction calmly and stay tuned in to your body language. It's the foundation of a horse that's safe and respectful to handle.
